Only Krishna

Lyrics

Only Krsna, only Krsna, Krsna Krsna, sweet lovin’.
Can I come to you? Can I stay with you?
You’re all I got. Only Krsna.
Only Krsna. Only You. Who knows my heart?
Only Krsna. Only You.

I’m looking for a certain kind of mood
in a certain kind of face
A certain kind of setting in a certain kind of place
A certain kind of smile and a certain kind of pose
A certain kind of person, someone who really knows…
….what’s up with the world and the way things are,
stays inspiring,
A shining star,
plays the flute of life amongst all strife,
is cute, effulgent, bright
Clever in mind, artistic in heart
Gentle and kind, and mystically smart
With just one glance can put me in a trance
No relying on chance, knows how to dance
Strong, composed and self satisfied
Swan-like grace, love personified

Only Krsna, only Krsna, Krsna Krsna, sweet lovin’.
Can I come to you? Can I stay with you?
You’re all I got. Only Krsna.
Only Krsna. Only You. Who knows my heart?
Only Krsna. Only You.

Looking for a certain kind of feeling
inside my very soul
Your that certain kind of piece [peace]
that will make me feel whole
Pleasing to the tongue, eye, ears and nose
You Never tell a lie, but speak poetic prose
Composed on the spot, enhancing what I’ve got
You give me what I’ve not, never say “I forgot”
I’m certainly certain there’s no hurting when I’m with you
But sometimes a curtain to keep you from my view
Increasing my desire to see past your attire
I’ll do what’s required to fuel that blazing fire of ecstasy,
Increasing bliss, breathlessly receive destiny with a kiss
from the sweetest lips a droplet drips like honey,
my life’s become sunny

ALL THIS LIFE IS TO LOVE YOU
ALL THIS LOVE IS DEEP IN YOU
ALL OF YOU IS THE ONE WHERE I COME

Looking for a certain kind of feeling inside my very soul.
You’re the kind of person that I really want to know.
Wanna spend all my eternal life with you alone
and nobody will know where I have gone.
We can be set together. Heart to heart with desire.
And you can make me live. And I can make you smile.
Then I will say, “My honey. My life is now sunny.”

Inspiration

We are all searching for the perfect person to spend our time with. Someone who understands us better than anyone else. A deep fulfilling relationship.

The original instrumental, chorus and bridge of this song was written by my good friend Inci Mutlu. She sent the skeleton track to see if I would be inspired to write some verses for it. Needless to say, I fell in love with the song as soon as I heard it and inspiration naturally flowed.

Kṛṣṇa is a name of God. Of course He has many names and there are many conceptions of him in various traditions. Some like to focus on His impersonal form, and some prefer to deny the personal conception completely, focusing on the material universe we see around us. But if we consider the term God to mean "the Complete Whole" we can understand that God refers to everything that exists (and personality is one of the most interesting things that exists, in my opinion).

Kṛṣṇa means the "all attractive" and who can deny that everyone is attracted to something. And experience shows that generally people are very attracted to personal relationships with each other (in their various forms). We appreciate the personal qualities of people we admire and adore, and we get the most juice out of life from our relationships with those we care for and who care for us. So naturally this emotional experience of relationship exists in the conception of the Complete Whole or Kṛṣṇa.

Kṛṣṇa has very attractive qualities that draw everyone who genuinely encounters them closer and closer to Him. The qualities we find attractive in other people, that flow through them like reservoirs, have their origin in the ocean of wonderful qualities, Kṛṣṇa.

Although Kṛṣṇa is unlimited in His qualities, the Vedic literature enumerates them as being 64 in number. The lyrics I wrote to this song were based on a list of Kṛṣṇa's qualities given in the Nectar of Devotion, a summary study of the Vedic yoga text Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu by Rupa Gosvami.

We are all striving after a particular relationship. I wrote my verses based on that desire to meet someone who can satisfy all those criteria; the longing for a perfect relationship with someone who embodies all desirable qualities.

Although our eyes are covered by the curtain of Maya (or Illusion), Kṛṣṇa's external "attire", there is a process by which this illusion is removed and these attractive qualities are increasingly revealed--bhakti yoga--providing great pleasure in the spiritual practitioners life.
