I’m inspired daily by the people close me, both offline and online. There’s not enough room to mention them all, but here are a few of the biggest inspirations to the content of this site.
Srila Prabhupada: In 1965 Prabhupada came to the West with about 8 dollars to his name. He was 69 years of age. In a few short years he introduced thousands of people to mantra meditation and wrote more than sixty books on bhakti yoga. Recommended reading for all those with a desire to inquire into the intricacies of spiritual life. You can read many of Prabhupada’s books here. If nothing else I highly recommend reading Bhagavad-gita As It Is. Very interesting for both the sincere spiritual seeker and the curious inquiring mind.
George Harrison: The lead guitarist of The Beatles. A great soul who wasn’t afraid to be himself on his spiritual journey. He once said:
All religions are branches of one big tree. It doesn’t matter what you call Him just as long as you call.
Here he talks about mantra meditation. Some of my favorite songs by him:
I’ve also listened to hundreds of bands and artists over the years and this section would be too long if I was to list them all. I’ve included those I’d say had the biggest influence and some links to give you a taste. Maybe you’ll find them inspiring or thought provoking too.
Sublime: What I got
Talib Kweli: Beautiful Struggle
Dispatch: Walk With You
RX Bandits: Overcome
Thievery Corporation: Exploration
Each of these artists have inspired me in certain ways.
There were many more personalities who have inspired me in my journey through life but it wasn’t practical to list them all here. I am thankful nonetheless, especially to those who have helped me in my internal journey.
